Mystic Aquarium Day Two

June 5, 2010

The kids did great in the hotel last night. We decided to go back to the aquarium again today. We were able to feed the sting rays today. You hold a small fish in your hand and wait for the sting ray to come up and start sucking. Once it gets suction you can release it. It's a very bizarre feeling. Chris was the only one to do it at first, then I tried and Nicholas tried it, but didn't like it. Nathan wouldn't try it at all. Uncle Brian also did it later in the day.

We went back inside to pet the sand sharks also. Nathan also held a star fish and a crab too. We saw sharks, a giant turtle, eels and barracudas. We also saw a tropical tank with fish similar to those in the movie Finding Nemo. We caught the sea lion show again today and we noticed that Coco wasn't participating. They told us they are now in mating season so they aren't as interested in eating.

Then we walked over to the Sea Lions to watch Kristy's 1:30pm feeding. Unfortunately when we got back to NH and tried to view our photos from the trip we found out that everything we took on our SLR camera was deleted off the memory card. She also told us that the 2,000 pound sea lion, Kodiak was going to climb the rocks, but sadly we missed it. I think Erika took this shot at the bottom.

We also hung out at the Beluga whale tank again. One kept swimming by so we got some cool shots of it with the kids in front of the tank. In the background you can see who is holding Orion. He made my day!

Nathan missed a day of school for us to come here so he had a homework assignment to write what he did and take a picture with Flat Stanley. We took several pictures and he made a fantastic book about his adventure. He started it as soon as we got the pictures back and he wrote it all by himself.

I'm glad you were able to have some photos from this day. It sucks your camera was not cooperating this day.

Did you take pictures of the book he made? You think Nathan will take over the family historian duties someday?

Chris dropped the SLR and broke one of the lenses so we started shooting with the little digital camera. I guess it's a good thing because otherwise we wouldn't have ANY photos.
