Nicholas's 5th Birthday Party

This year we were able to have Nicholas's fifth birthday party on Halloween so we had a Halloween theme of course! The house was decorated and the gift table was out when he woke up on the day of his party. That was a big mistake because as soon as he saw it he was asking about every 15 minutes if he could open his presents. That got old fast.

He had a list of four classmates he wanted to invite, plus a few friends and family of course.

It was a beautiful day, unseasonably warm, but quite windy. Everyone played outside at first. They went down the slide into a pile of leaves and played on the swingset structure.

Then we played "Put the Jellyfish in the Net", a Spongebob Square Pants game. That was funny. Brittany offered up her ear warmer to cover the contestants eyes with. Matthew won this came because his jellyfish was closest to the net.

We tried a pinata for the first time at one of our kids birthday parties. It was windy outside, but we were able to hang it off the basketball hoop. And it's an adjustable hoop so Chris made it lower for the little guys and higher for the bigger kids. We had to hold some of the younger ones back when someone hit the pinata and a few pieces of candy fell out. We were afraid they'd get hit with the stick. And once Andrew got through it and the candy started flying the kids hit the floor to fill their sacks.

Finally it was present time, yes Nicholas asked AGAIN! He wanted to open Tyler's gift first. It was Hot Wheels! And second was a gift from Mom and Dad, flannel sheets! he was so funny and knew that they were bed sheets as he called them. He got some Lego's, Bionicles, K'Nex, books on CD and a big hit was the T-Rex Imaginex dinosaur that roars and moves.

The cake was adorable. A giant pumpkin. Of course Nicholas grabbed the #5 candle right after blowing it out and licked the frosting off it!

And why is it that I always stress over stuffing the goodie bags and then forget to give them out to half the kids who attended?

It looks like he had a fab time and made out like a BANDIT! Wish I could have been there.

So fun! i did that with goody bags at the last birthday party..I made Macey take them to them later, because I wasn't going to waste all that money on junk, and keep it all!! hehe! I wanted other mothers to share in my joy of trinkets..hehehe!
