Nicholas Turns Seven!

Saturday, October 29, 2011

Nicholas turned seven yesterday and he had his party today. At first he wanted a Super Mario party, but changed his mind when we went to the store and saw the Cars 2 party ware. I was stressing over coming up with party activity ideas. Thank goodness for the internet. First we made license plates out of foam. The kids had good time doing this and I got a picture of all of them with their finished product at the end.

Then we went outside for a Cars obstacle course. We have these pillow like seats that are Lightening McQueen so we made the kids carry those while they went through the obstacle course. Nathan and Chris designed it and it was so fun to watch the kids go through it. We broke them up into two teams. They had to do hopscotch, pick up the cars, weave through cones, duck under a rope, kick a ball into a soccer net, climb across a balance beam and throw a ball into the basketball hoop. It was pretty funny to watch the kids run through it and fall down while they were holding the Cars seats.

Nicholas scored big time when it came to presents.

He was very excited to get the 2nd and 3rd book in the My Father's Dragon series from Uncle Brian and Auntie Erika. Other hits were Bey Blades, Lego's, Nerf swords, a Hex Bug, Pokemon Black & White and two Club Penguin Puffles. He had been asking for a Boston Bruins shirt since they won the Stanley Cup in June. He specifically mentioned Tim Thomas many times so we got him a Tim Thomas Bruins shirt.

His favorite gift was the Skylanders Wii game and two set of characters for it. He couldn't wait to open those and play with them. He didn't mind just using the characters as action figures and not even playing the game. The next day they broke the game in with Chris though. You put the Skylander figures on a base and it changes what character you are in the game.
I always find it amusing to see what gift everyone else gets excited about. It seemed to be the Star Wars Advent Calendar. They were all checking it out and check out Sean's face (he's wearing a red shirt).

Nathan. Sean and Leighton have been practicing a play to put on during the party. They were all very excited. It had a Ninja theme and they did a great job. It was hard to hear them and at the point we all thought it was over they told us it was just the end of the first scene! I love their enthusiasm.

All in all it was a fantastic birthday and everyone had a great time.
